Jason Thompson/Gulf Breeze News The Gulf Breeze Lady Dolphin basketball team hung tough for a quarter before a bigger, stronger, faster Lincoln squad pulled away in the second quarter for a 71-48 win Thursday in a Region 1- 8A Quarterfinal in Tallahassee.

The loss marked the first regional tournament game for the Lady Dolphins (13-7) since 2005.

“Our defense wasn’t as intense as we had played against Tate and Niceville the previous week, but with the distance of the trip we had to make, it’s hard to come out with as much energy as we needed against Lincoln,” first year coach Christy Gray said.

“I’ve always been pleased with the effort my girls put in,” Gray said. “They they fight until the end, and they fight hard.”

The Lady Trojans, who also ended GBHS’ volleyball season, scored buckets on their first three possessions for an early 7-3 lead.
