A 1997 Chevy Cavalier, driven by Sherry Vitale, 56, of Navarre, was traveling east in the inside lane of westbound US Hwy 98 before colliding head-on with a 2011 Honda Pilot, driven by Rachel Price, 29, of Gulf Breeze, resulting in one fatality and leaving two seriously injured. Two-year-old Issac Mays was a passenger in Price’s vehicle at the time of the crash that occurred on Saturday, March 11 at approximately 12:50 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) responded.

Vitale was traveling in opposition to traffic prior to the collision that resulted in an amount of force that rotated both vehicles counter-clockwise, coming to a final stop in the westbound inside lane of Hwy 98. Vitale was reported to be killed on-scene. Price and Mays both sustained serious injuries and were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola for treatment.

Alcohol was ruled out as a factor in the crash.
