GB Optimist Club hosts Essay Contest winners

Megan Hoffman, a senior at Gulf Breeze High School, won the Gulf Breeze Optimist Club’s essay contest based on the theme, “Chasing Optimism in the Face of Challenges.”

Hoffman was awarded $200 and a gold medal for the honor. In addition, the essay will be sent to the district level to be judged along with winners from other Optimist Clubs in the district. College scholarships are available for top winners at the district level.

Second runner up was Ava Kesler, a sixth grader at Gulf Breeze Middle School and third place was won by Trevor Smith, also a sixth grader at Gulf Breeze Middle School.

In addition to the Essay Contest, the Gulf Breeze Optimist Club hosts oratorical contests, the CHOICES program, awards scholarships and supports other youth endeavors in the greater Gulf Breeze area.
