City honors longtime manager Eddy with fish fry on Sunday
Eddy has been Gulf Breeze’s city manager for 25 years and, following his official retirement May 1, he will continue to serve the town he lives in as a consultant to the interim city manager, Samantha Abell.
“I am very honored and touched and so pleased that the community is going to get together and celebrate the accomplishments of Gulf Breeze over the past 25 years, regardless of whom they want to credit,” Eddy said. “It’s more about what the city has been able to do than me.”
The retiring city manager said he is looking forward to not having a lot of evening meetings as he moves into his new position. He plans to travel more and to enjoy life without some of the encumbrances that come with the job of looking after the city. He is also excited about Gulf Breeze’s transitioning to a new city manager.
“I will be working on the special projects Ms. Abell assigns, and that will be a lot different than what I am doing now,” he said.
Tickets for the fish fry in Eddy’s honor are $15 and are on sale at City Hall and at the Gulf Breeze Community Center. Proceeds will assist the Take Stock in Children effort.
