Walk-off homer punctuates Senior Night win
Kara Dorsey’s solo homer to lead off the bottom of the eighth gave Gulf Breeze an 11-10 win over Choctaw.
The win clinched the number three seed for the Lady Dolphins (12-8 overall) in next week’s District 1-6A Tournament, where they will face second-seeded Choctaw.
The Lady Indians took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before GBHS scored three in the bottom half. Taylor Baker, who went 3- for-4, singled to plate both Riley Robinson and Reagan Raley.
Robinson went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while Raley was 4-for-5 and scored four times. Kamryn Hearn then reached on an error, plating Baker’s courtesy runner, Alyssa Lewter.
Choctaw took a 7-5 lead in the third before a four-run bottom of the third made it a 9-7 game. Robinson’s sac fly plated Hearn before Raley’s double scored Alex Branton to tie it. Dorsey’s single scored Raley before Lewter, running after a walk to Baker, scored on an error.
The Lady Indians would tie it with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before a single tally in the bottom of the fifth gave Gulf Breeze the lead back. Raley singled before scoring on a ground ball hit by Dorsey.
Choctaw would tie the game with a run in the sixth before Dorsey won it in the eighth.
Gulf Breeze closes out the regular season Friday at Navarre.
