Arc of the Emerald Coast hosted its eighth annual Blueberry Bash June 24 and enjoyed a wonderfully successful day, with local entertainment, opportunities to take enjoy on site or take home tasty treats and fun with vendors, community leaders, games and races.

A 1935 Hudson, owned by Joseph Pecjack claimed first place in the car show, with a 1948 truck belonging to Leroy Jernigan claiming second. Third place went to Mike Dellapp and his 1965 Corvair.

Music underscored the day of fun, with entertainment provided by talented locals and 79 runners stretched their muscles in the 5K event. Bob Walker claimed the first place medal with a finish time of 19:24.

vied for customers’ attention with arts and crafts and a variety of food choices.

The magnet attracting most of the guests, however, was the opportunity to either pick their own blueberries or purchase prepicked fruit. Blueberry bushes for those who want to grow their own are still available for $6 at The Arc of the Emerald Coast

A spokesman says the 2018 Blueberry Bash date has already been set, and the fun will gear up again on June 23.

The Arc of the Emerald Coast provides services that work to include all children and adults with cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities while focusing on abilities, respect, choice for all and the encouragement of active citizenship and inclusion in every community. It provides services in Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties.
