It is an idea proposed by Gulf Breeze City Council member Todd Torgersen, and its purpose is to encourage spring break shopping, in particular, in Gulf Breeze Proper.
Eight banners showed up in the surrounding area about a week ago.
Three of them are positioned on Hwy. 98 so they will be visible to those entering the city limits. Two “reminder” banners greet those who have passed through the City and are on their way to Pensacola Beach. Three more are in place for the benefit of drivers leaving the beach who may need to pick up items on their way home.
There are also two “extra” signs available in the event of damage to any of those already in place or in case additional locations are suggested.
“Shop the Proper” encourages people to visit the shopping centers that are named on the eye-catching banners.
“We are hearing great feedback, so far,” says Gulf Breeze City Manager Samantha Abell.
The signs were designed and installed by the City in partnership with the Gulf Breeze Chamber of Commerce and #Savethebreeze.
